Agüimes hosts 39th Festival del Sur theatre event

The 39th edition of the Festival del Sur Encuentro Teatral Tres Continentes in Agüimes, Canary Islands, begins on October 20. The festival features seven stage productions, including the Argentine play ‘El Brote’ by Compañía Criolla and the local production ‘DES-estructurados’. ‘El Brote’, starring Roberto Peloni, will have three performances at the Teatro Auditorio de Agüimes.

In related cultural news, Tamaimos is publishing the script for ‘Corredera. Drama en doce cuadros’ by Gran Canarian playwright Miguel Ángel Martínez. The book presentation is scheduled for October 19 at El Soco in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The work portrays the society of Gran Canaria during the era of the Franco dictatorship and commemorates the anniversary of the execution of Juan ‘el Corredera’ in 1949.
