Agios Nikolaos marina upgrade inaugurated in Crete
The upgraded marina of Agios Nikolaos in Crete was officially inaugurated on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. The project, which carries a budget of two million euros, was funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility.
The upgrades significantly enhance the marina's infrastructure, including the installation of new floating docks, increased mooring capacity, modern equipment, and mechanized systems. The project also incorporates electric vehicle charging infrastructure, renewable energy sources, and accessibility improvements for persons with disabilities.
During the ceremony, Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni stated that the marina serves as a ‘gateway to the city and a significant core of economic activity.’ She emphasized that the investment aims to strengthen Greece’s position in the Mediterranean yachting sector and promote high-value maritime tourism that benefits local communities year-round.
