Agios Nikolaos waters officially recognized as thermal resource

The waters of Agios Nikolaos in Kopanos have been officially recognized as a natural thermal resource following publication in the Government Gazette (FEK B’ 5813/24.09.2026). This decision follows a positive recommendation from the Ministry of Tourism’s Committee for the Protection of Thermal Natural Resources in May 2026.

The recognition concludes a long-term administrative and scientific process that began in 2008. Local authorities, including Mayor Nikos Koutsogiannis, have worked to document the resource to facilitate its development. This official status is expected to pave the way for thermal tourism and wellness activities, potentially boosting the local economy and increasing visitor numbers in the Municipality of Naoussa.
