Agios Panteleimonas cafe attack linked to organized crime

Greek authorities are investigating an armed attack on a cafe in Agios Panteleimonas, which they believe was a settlement of accounts between criminal groups, likely related to drug disputes. During the attack, four perpetrators using a stolen vehicle fired 25 Kalashnikov rounds into the establishment.

A 10-year-old girl, the daughter of the cafe owner's partner, was injured in the leg by bullet fragments. The perpetrators abandoned their getaway vehicle in Aspropyrgos, where it was found burned; a military rifle was discovered inside.

The Organized Crime Unit (DAOE) is investigating the potential involvement of an Albanian criminal. The cafe owner has a significant criminal record, including a 2016 involvement in a large cannabis plantation case in Arta and more recent drug-related issues. The owner has reportedly refused to cooperate with police, though sources suggest he may have suspected he was a target.
