Agios Panteleimonas cafe targeted in Molotov cocktail attack

Two unidentified men launched an arson attack on a cafe in Agios Panteleimonas during the early hours of Wednesday, August 26. The incident occurred around 1:30 AM at a shop located in Agios Nikolaos Square while the establishment was operational and staff were present inside.

According to witnesses, the attackers approached the cafe with a backpack from which they produced and threw two Molotov cocktails into the building. The attack ignited a fire within the premises. The cafe employees responded immediately by using on-site fire extinguishers, which successfully contained the flames and prevented the fire from spreading further or causing more extensive damage.

No injuries were reported as a result of the attack. Police and fire services arrived at the scene to secure the area and ensure there was no risk of reignition. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation, collecting witness statements, and reviewing security camera footage to identify the suspects and determine their motive. The perpetrators fled the scene immediately following the attack and remain at large.
