Agir implements HIMSS digital health standard in Brazil's public hospitals
The Associação de Gestão, Inovação e Resultados em Saúde (Agir) is rolling out a digital transformation program across public hospitals managed under Brazil's Unified Health System (SUS). Beginning in 2025, the initiative follows the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) standards, introducing unified electronic health records, barcode‑based bedside medication checks, digital clinical protocols and real‑time decision‑support tools. According to Kelvin Cantarelli, Agir’s corporate director of Digital Transformation, the move “elevates care quality, safety and patient experience” and aims to cut medication errors, streamline workflows and reduce administrative burden for clinicians. The project also invests in high‑speed networks, mobile devices and data‑security architecture to comply with Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD).
