Agmer teacher strike reaches 80% adherence in Entre Ríos
The Asociación Gremial del Magisterio de Entre Ríos (Agmer) reported an 80% adherence rate to its 48-hour strike across the province. This follows a first day of action that saw approximately 75% participation.
The strike is driven by demands for salary increases to compensate for lost purchasing power. Union leaders criticized the provincial executive for unilaterally closing wage negotiations, leaving teacher demands unaddressed. Educators have warned that current income levels are leading to increased debt, multiple jobs, and excessive workloads, which they claim negatively impact the quality of the education system.
To conclude the strike, a provincial march involving torches is scheduled to head toward the Government House to demonstrate the collective dissatisfaction of the teaching staff.
