Argentina provinces negotiate teacher and state worker salaries

Provincial governments in Argentina are engaged in wage negotiations with various labor unions. In Entre Ríos, the government has presented a new salary recomposition proposal for teachers that exceeds a 7 percent total increase. This staggered plan includes a 3.5 percent increase for September, 1.5 percent for November, and 2 percent for December. The proposal aims to provide salary predictability through the end of the year and will impact upcoming bonuses as the increases are remunerative.

In response to these negotiations, the Association of Teachers of Entre Ríos (AGMER) has called for an Extraordinary Congress on September 25 to analyze the offer and determine future actions. The union has emphasized the urgent need for recomposition due to the loss of purchasing power caused by inflation.

Simultaneously, in Buenos Aires province, the government has reconvened state, teacher, and judicial unions for salary negotiations scheduled for late September. While discussions are resuming, any agreed-upon increases are unlikely to be reflected in September salaries due to current payroll processing, meaning adjustments may not appear until October or November.
