Agmeth Escaf denies corruption allegations and political persecution

Colombian Senator Agmeth Escaf has addressed recent allegations of corruption involving him, Gustavo Petro, and Eva Ferrer Galcerán. Following a forensic report revealing dialogues between President Petro and Galcerán that mentioned Escaf and Mario Fernández Alcocer, Escaf denied all accusations, labeling them “false.”

Escaf claimed he is being targeted by political opponents and individuals within his own progressive movement. He accused certain figures of attempting to damage his reputation and spreading misinformation, including false claims regarding his children’s residency in the United States and his visa status.

Additionally, Escaf revisited past controversies involving Nicolás Petro. He stated that Nicolás Petro used his name to deflect accusations during a personal dispute involving Day Vásquez, claiming the allegations against him were baseless and lacked evidence. Escaf expressed that he still awaits an apology for the professional and personal damage caused by those previous claims.
