Agência Pública targeted by attacks from Paulo Figueiredo and Eduardo Bolsonaro

The Brazilian investigative news outlet Agência Pública has reported being the target of aggressive and misogynistic attacks from influencer Paulo Figueiredo and his supporters. The hostility follows two investigative reports published by the agency.

The first report detailed a $10,000 donation made by Figueiredo to U.S. Republican Representative Elvira Salazar shortly before she proposed legislation to penalize Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. The second report examined the lifestyle of Figueiredo and former federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro in the United States.

In response to these reports, Figueiredo used social media platform X to attack the agency’s reputation and its executive director, Natalia Viana, using derogatory and gender-based insults. Eduardo Bolsonaro amplified these attacks by reposting Figueiredo’s content. Agência Pública, an award-winning non-profit organization, stated that it is documenting the threats and intends to take legal action against the intimidation attempts.
