Agnieszka Smoczyńska's sci‑fi thriller 'Hot Spot' wins jury award at Canada's Fantasia Festival

Polish director Agnieszka Smoczyńska's futuristic science‑fiction thriller "Hot Spot" received the Special Jury Award for Best Ensemble at the 30th Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, Canada. The award recognized the entire cast, which includes Reika Kirishima, George Aurimas Cris, Andrzej Konopka and Noomi Rapace, among others, for their performance in a story about a detective uncovering a rebel group in a society overseen by a conscious artificial intelligence.

The film, a Polish‑Greek co‑production, is set to have its Polish festival premiere at the 26th MFF TAURON Nowe Horyzonty, where Smoczyńska discussed the film's visual palette, sound design and themes of AI‑controlled order in a recent interview.
