Agorà and Sime promote safety standards in aesthetic medicine

Medical organizations in Italy are emphasizing the importance of safety and professional rigor in aesthetic medicine. Agorà, the Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine, is launching the first national day dedicated to the safety of aesthetic treatments on October 14. Maurizio Cavallini, president of Agorà, stated that aesthetic medicine is fundamentally a medical practice that requires proper clinical history, examinations, and appropriate environments.

To protect patients, Agorà has introduced a ten-rule guide for making informed decisions and launched a free help desk to assist with inquiries regarding procedures and products like hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin.

Additionally, the Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine (Sime) has issued warnings regarding the influence of social media. Experts advise patients to look beyond follower counts and online reviews, cautioning against practitioners who promise rapid results or fail to provide informed consent and medication documentation. Sime provides a digital tool to help patients locate qualified medical professionals.
