Agora Group reduces workforce by 8.3 percent amid restructuring

Agora Group has experienced a significant reduction in its workforce, with total employment dropping by 8.3 percent over the past year. As of the end of June 2026, the company employed 2,209 people, down from 2,408 a year prior.

The decline is attributed to two major rounds of collective redundancies. In the autumn of 2025, the company closed its Warsaw printing house, resulting in nearly 50 job losses and a shift of printing services for 'Gazeta Wyborcza' to competitor Polska Press. Additionally, between January and February 2026, several subsidiaries conducted layoffs involving 140 employees, including 56 from Wyborcza and 46 from Gazeta.pl.

While personnel costs decreased in the press, internet, and radio divisions due to these cuts, overall labor costs rose by 3.7 percent in the first quarter of 2026. This increase was driven by centralization processes in support departments and rising costs in the Helios cinema chain and the outdoor advertising segment, following Agora's 19.4 million PLN acquisition of Synergic.
