Agostina Hein breaks South American and Argentine swimming records
Argentine swimmer Agostina Hein has broken multiple long-standing records following her recovery from appendicitis. Competing in the 57th Anniversary Tournament of the Buenos Aires Swimming Federation (Fenaba), Hein set a new South American record in the 200m individual medley (short course) with a time of 2m08s70, surpassing the previous continental mark held by Brazil’s Joanna Maranhao since 2009.
Hein also broke a 22-year-old Argentine national record in the 400m individual medley, clocking 4m33s57 and overtaking the long-standing mark set by Georgina Bardach. Her recent performance includes victories in the 400m freestyle and 200m freestyle.
In addition to her individual achievements, Hein participated in an event in Campana to present official uniforms to a delegation of over 150 athletes representing the city in the upcoming 2026 Bonaerense Games in Mar del Plata. Local officials, including Mayor Sebastián Abella, attended the ceremony to support the young competitors.
