Córdoba femicide case of Agostina Vega sees new raids and secret investigation

The 14‑year‑old Agostina Vega was found dead, dismembered, in a vacant lot in the Ampliación Ferreyra neighborhood of Córdoba. Claudio Barrelier, 33, has been detained as the main suspect and remains the only person formally charged.

Multiple judicial actions have followed: three separate raids on Barrelier’s house on Juan del Campillo 878, a raid on his mother’s home, and a search of a local laundry where the Ford Ka used to move the body was cleaned. During the latest raid investigators broke floor plates and seized bags, a mattress and clothing for forensic analysis.

Prosecutor Raúl Garzón ordered a ten‑day secrecy of the case file and combined this investigation with a 2025 case against Barrelier for illegal detention. The father, Gabriel Vega, publicly insists that Barrelier did not act alone and demands that possible accomplices be charged.

The family has arranged a private funeral; Agostina’s mother, Melisa Heredia, remains hospitalised. The investigation continues with additional forensic peritages and the possibility of further arrests.
