Agostino Abbatiello charged in Penn State fraternity cocaine ring

Agostino Abbatiello, a 24-year-old former Penn State accounting student, has surrendered to authorities following charges in a large-scale cocaine-trafficking operation linked to two fraternity houses. Abbatiello, who was dubbed ‘Pablo Pledgescobar’ by some, was denied bail after failing to appear for an initial arraignment.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that 14 individuals have been charged in connection with ‘Operation Drugs Unlimited’. The investigation alleges a coordinated drug-trafficking crew operated out of fraternity houses throughout 2023 and 2024. Thirteen of the accused were students at the time of the alleged crimes, with at least four remaining enrolled at the university.

Prosecutors allege that Abbatiello and co-defendant Thomas Robinson acted as the primary suppliers, traveling to Philadelphia and New York to purchase large quantities of cocaine. Abbatiello is described by prosecutors as being ‘at the very top of the chain’. Evidence suggests that for some fraternity pledges, the process of cutting and packaging cocaine served as a form of indoctrination into the organizations.
