Agra Teacher MLC Election: Re-polling Ordered for Three Booths

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered re-polling for three booths in the Agra Division Teacher constituency for the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council elections. The decision follows reports of irregularities and alleged booth capturing during the initial voting held on October 23.

Under Section 58A(2)(A) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the ECI declared the previous voting at booths 20, 21, and 26 null and void. Re-polling is scheduled for October 26, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The commission has directed that any personnel, including police and polling officers, found responsible for the irregularities must not be assigned duties during the re-poll.

The Divisional Commissioner of Agra has been instructed to investigate the lapses and submit a report by October 25 to establish accountability. Counting of votes for the Agra Division Teacher constituency will only proceed after the successful completion of the re-polling and subsequent authorization from the ECI.
