Agra Police file charge sheets against 297 cybercriminals

The Agra Police Commissionerate has filed charge sheets against 297 cybercriminals following a major crackdown on an interstate fraud network. The investigation revealed that the syndicate operated across 13 states, executing scams totaling over 50 crore rupees through methods such as ‘digital arrest’, online gaming fraud, fake matrimonial profiles, and cryptocurrency investment scams.

To date, police have arrested more than 100 suspects and successfully recovered or froze approximately 7 crore rupees for victims. The operation included raids on over 100 locations. In an effort to dismantle the technical infrastructure used by the criminals, authorities have blocked 7,742 mobile phone IMEI numbers and deactivated 1,928 suspicious mobile numbers used for fraudulent calls.
