Agra railway passenger rescued after being dragged by moving train

A passenger was dragged approximately 50 metres between a moving train and a platform at the Agra Cantt Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh, India. The incident occurred around 9:35 p.m. local time on September 8 as the man attempted to board the Sabarmati Express.

CCTV footage captured the moment the commuter lost his footing, causing his foot to become trapped in the gap between the train and the platform. Members of the Government Railway Police’s Quick Response Team and fellow passengers intervened, pulling the man to safety. GRP inspector Sandeep Tomar credited the rescue to the alertness and courage of the responders. The passenger reportedly sustained no injuries.

Reports note that frequent railway accidents in the region are often linked to factors such as ageing infrastructure, outdated signalling systems, overcrowding, and human error.
