Agra: Unborn baby dies after ambulance stuck in pothole

An unborn baby died after an ambulance carrying a woman in labor became stuck in a large pothole on a village road in the Agra district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred in Gadhbar village in the Bah sub-division during the early hours of September 2 or 3.

The ambulance became trapped in mud on a damaged link road, resulting in a delay of approximately two hours. Local villagers eventually used a tractor to pull the vehicle free. By the time the woman reached a community health center, doctors determined the baby had died in the womb due to complications and the delay in medical care. While the mother was stabilized following emergency surgery, the newborn could not be saved.

Following a complaint filed by the family, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Vinod Kumar stated that the matter has been forwarded to the Public Works Department for a report. Local political figures have also commented on the incident, attributing the tragedy to corruption regarding road maintenance.
