Agrafa: Hunter dies following medical emergency in mountainous region
A 50-year-old hunter died on Saturday, October 3, 2026, in the mountainous Agrafa region of Evrytania, Greece. The man reportedly experienced sudden chest pains and lost consciousness while hunting with a group.
A 37-year-old companion alerted authorities via the 112 emergency number around 11:30 a.m. This triggered a difficult rescue operation by the Fire Service and Police, who had to navigate extremely rugged and inaccessible terrain to reach the isolated location.
Emergency responders managed to transport the man to the West Frangista Health Center, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Local police have initiated a preliminary investigation, and an autopsy has been ordered by the Forensic Service of Central Greece.
