Agrati Veduggio con Colzano employee suspended for family care leave
An employee at the fastener company Agrati Veduggio con Colzano has been suspended from work without pay for three days. The disciplinary action follows the worker taking leave to care for his hospitalized wife and look after his three minor daughters while their mother was incapacitated.
The labor union Fiom-Cgil has denounced the decision as “unacceptable,” arguing that the worker had provided advance notice of the medical emergency. The union claims the absences fall under the paid leave provisions for family emergencies established by the national collective bargaining agreement for the metalworking industry. Fiom-Cgil is currently evaluating a strike and is demanding the withdrawal of the sanction, a formal apology from the company, and more ethical management practices.
