Agri-Food EXPO opens in Tokyo with 600 exhibitors

The 19th Agri-Food EXPO, organized by the Japan Finance Corporation, commenced on August 19 at Tokyo Big Sight in Koto, Tokyo. The two-day exhibition features approximately 600 exhibitors showcasing domestic agricultural, forestry, and fishery products.

The event facilitates business negotiations between producers and various buyers, including trading companies, wholesalers, food processors, and retailers. To expand market reach, the organizers invited approximately 40 professional buyers from different industries and collaborated with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to provide opportunities for 17 international buyers to engage with exhibitors.

Exhibitors include regional producers such as Kawani from Ishikawa Prefecture, which is presenting frozen roasted sweet potatoes, and various companies from Shimane Prefecture showcasing local specialties like mackerel curry and strawberries. The organizers noted that the expo aims to support the development of sales channels both domestically and internationally.
