Agri-oh to exhibit closed-loop aquaponics system at GREEN×EXPO 2027

Agri-oh and Nara Construction will exhibit a closed-loop aquaponics system at the GREEN×EXPO 2027 in Yokohama, Japan. The system, which integrates hydroponic cultivation with aquaculture, creates a resource-circulating agricultural model where fish waste is decomposed by microorganisms into nutrients for plants, such as strawberries, before the purified water is returned to the fish tanks.

The exhibition is part of a sponsorship agreement between Nara Construction and Yokohama City. The system will be displayed at the Yokohama City exhibition site within the Urban GX Village from March 19 to September 26, 2027.

Beyond the expo, the companies are exploring social implementation of the technology as green infrastructure. This includes developing environmental education programs in collaboration with Tokyo City University to teach children about resource circulation, as well as investigating the installation of these systems in commercial facilities and residential buildings to enhance community engagement and property value.
