Brazil trade surplus reaches US$ 62.4 billion in 2026

Brazil's trade balance recorded a significant surplus of US$ 62.4 billion between January and September 2026, representing a 34.8% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. This growth was driven by a 10.4% rise in exports, totaling US$ 284.65 billion, while imports grew by 5% to US$ 222.26 billion.

China remains Brazil's primary trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching a record US$ 143.3 billion in the first nine months of 2026. This resulted in a trade surplus of US$ 26.1 billion with China, fueled by heavy exports of soybeans, petroleum, and iron ore. Petroleum exports to China specifically saw a 49% increase.

In the state of São Paulo, the agribusiness sector contributed to a regional surplus of US$ 15.61 billion, driven by exports in sugar, meat, soybeans, and forestry products. China, the European Union, and the United States were the main destinations for these goods. Additionally, the national agribusiness credit market saw significant activity, with Rural Product Notes (CPRs) reaching stocks of R$ 597 billion in September.
