Agricultural activity advances in Sinaloa and Argentina

In central Sinaloa, Mexico, vegetable and legume planting has reached 40 percent of the planned 15,000 hectares for the 2026-2027 autumn-winter cycle. According to Roberto Bazúa Campaña, president of the Asociación de Agricultores del Río Culiacán (AARC), current cultivation includes hot peppers, bell peppers, and open-field tomatoes, with eggplant, squash, and cucumber planting also underway in Culiacán, Navolato, and Eldorado. The first harvests of cucumbers, squash, and eggplant are expected between late October and early November, followed by tomatoes in mid-December.

In Argentina, the 2026/27 agricultural campaign is underway with projected planting areas of 44.2 million hectares, nearly matching previous records. Due to the significant investment required, producers are utilizing various financing options through banks, the Mercado Argentino de Valores (MAV), and commercial suppliers. Interest rates for dollar-denominated loans are reported to range between 5% and 13%, depending on terms and guarantees.
