Agricultural agencies in Panama and Mexico launch rural support initiatives

Agricultural authorities in Panama and Mexico are implementing various initiatives to support rural producers and strengthen food supply chains.

In Panama, the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) is conducting several regional programs. In Herrera, officials are coordinating animal health campaigns to protect livestock. In Los Santos, MIDA is collaborating with the University of Panama on a research project to analyze the production and value chain of sweet potatoes. Additionally, in the Colón region, MIDA representatives met with the Santa Isabel Municipal Council to discuss technical assistance, input delivery, and projects like the Robusta coffee and plantain initiative aimed at encouraging youth entrepreneurship in the sector.

In Mexico, the Chihuahua Secretariat of Rural Development (SDR) is supporting the ‘Del Campo a la Mesa’ (From the Field to the Table) campaign. This initiative, formed through an agreement between the Frijol Product System and business organizations, aims to increase the consumption of locally produced Chihuahua beans in hotels, restaurants, and homes using the ‘Sabor Chihuahua’ seal.
