Agricultural authorities in Slovenia and Croatia call for drought damage reports

Local authorities in Slovenia and Croatia have issued calls for farmers to report agricultural damage caused by the 2026 drought to facilitate damage assessments and potential natural disaster declarations.

In Velenje, Slovenia, the municipality is requesting that producers report losses by September 21, 2026. This follows a decision by the Ministry of Defence and the Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Civil Protection and Disaster to begin assessing drought-related impacts. Applicants must provide specific documentation, including geospatial forms and proof of insurance if applicable.

In Ilok, Croatia, authorities are collecting preliminary data from the areas of Ilok, Bapska, Mohovo, and Šarengrad. Farmers are instructed to submit damage reports using prescribed forms between September 8 and September 15, 2026. Required documentation includes copies of support requests submitted to the Agency for Payments in Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, as well as photographic evidence of affected crops.
