Agricultural development initiatives launched in Khuzestan and Kermanshah
In Khuzestan, agricultural authorities are working to revive inactive and semi-active red meat fattening units. The initiative aims to expand contract production for calves and lambs by improving productivity and strengthening the link between input supply, livestock rearing, and processing. The company Kavehshgaran Ouj Pardis has expressed readiness to cooperate with licensed units under a contract production framework. The provincial livestock breeders union is currently reviewing cooperation guidelines to facilitate this process.
In Kermanshah, officials are planning to cultivate 1,000 hectares of Camelina during the current growing season. Due to its rain-fed nature and low water requirements, Camelina is considered a suitable option for the region's current environmental conditions. While certified seeds are available, officials noted that previous expansion efforts faced challenges due to a lack of guaranteed buyers. To encourage farmers, there is a push for contract cultivation to ensure that processing and oil extraction factories purchase the crops at harvest time.
