Agricultural events in Denmark focus on sugar beet cultivation
Agricultural activities in Denmark have recently highlighted sugar beet cultivation through both heritage events and modern technical demonstrations.
A veteran tractor gathering, originally scheduled for Rakkeby, was relocated to Jelstrup due to heavy rain making the fields at Munkedalsvej too wet. The event successfully moved to the sandier soils of Niels Terkelsen’s farm, where participants gathered to demonstrate various beet harvesting equipment. The gathering included 51 tractors on Saturday and saw significant community involvement in harvesting and logistics.
In Midtjylland, Elmegården hosted ‘Roens Dag’ (Beet Day), an event focused on the technical aspects of beet farming. Organized by Lars Kristensen in collaboration with Velas, KWS Scandinavia, and Bovi Consult, the event featured demonstration plots containing 10 different Danish beet varieties from DLF and KWS. Attendees examined machinery for harvesting, processing, and weeding, alongside professional insights into plant protection and crop management.
