Agricultural festivals drive economic activity in Rio de Janeiro

Agricultural festivals in the state of Rio de Janeiro are driving local economic activity through trade, tourism, and cultural events.

In Quissamã, the inaugural Quissamã Agro Fest is scheduled for September 24 to 27 at the Renato Queirós Carneiro da Silva Exhibition Park. The event features a return of rodeo competitions after a 12-year hiatus, alongside technical agricultural competitions such as cattle auctions, milk contests, and livestock judging. The festival aims to boost the local economy, specifically benefiting the hospitality, gastronomy, and retail sectors.

Meanwhile, the 41st ExpoAgro in São Francisco de Itabapoana took place from September 17 to 20 at the Raul Henriques Lemos Exhibition Park. The event included over 30 activities, including equestrian trials and livestock exhibitions. Following a previous edition that generated approximately R$ 30 million for the municipality, organizers expected this year's event to further stimulate commerce and services through participation from roughly 100 exhibitors.
