Agricultural groups demand more aid for rising production costs

Agricultural organizations are criticizing current subsidy levels intended to offset rising production costs caused by the crisis in the Middle East.

UCCL has reported that the extension of extraordinary aid for agricultural diesel until December 31 only covers approximately 43 percent of the actual cost increase. While the regulation aims to compensate up to 70 percent of the excess cost, the current cap of 0.20 euros per liter falls short of the required amount. According to Ministry data, the weighted average price of agricultural diesel without taxes rose from 0.734 euros per liter before the conflict to 1.196 euros per liter in September, creating a differential of roughly 46.2 cents per liter.

In the Valencian Community, La Unió Llauradora i Ramadera is requesting that the Generalitat Valenciana provide approximately 2.7 million euros in regional funds to complement existing emergency aid. The organization argues that using regional resources to supplement European funds could mobilize over 4 million euros for local farms. They emphasize that the current allocation is insufficient to address the rising costs of energy and fertilizers affecting farmers and livestock breeders.
