Agricultural guidance issued for Croatian vineyards and apple orchards

Agricultural reports for Croatia indicate specific management needs for vineyards and apple orchards due to recent weather patterns. In Krapinsko-zagorska County, grapevines are entering various stages of ripening, with early varieties reaching the final stages of maturity. High temperatures reaching 34.0°C and limited rainfall have created thermal stress and water shortages, particularly in lighter soils.

In the Međimurje region, apple cultivation is facing challenges from above-average temperatures and lower-than-average rainfall during August. Significant temperature increases, with averages 3.37°C to 5.18°C above normal, have been recorded. These conditions, combined with specific humidity levels, have contributed to the prevalence of diseases such as scab (Venturia) and powdery mildew (Podosphaera) in untreated trees. Harvests for medium-early varieties like Gala are concluding, while the harvest for Golden Delicious is expected to begin.
