Agricultural harvests begin for honey pears and apricot blossom honey in Turkey
Agricultural harvests are underway in various regions of Turkey, highlighting local specialty products. In the Kürecik region of Akçadağ, Malatya, the honey pear harvest has begun. These pears, known for their unique flavor and juicy texture, are being sold at roadside stalls along the D300 State Highway. The season is expected to last approximately one month, with prices ranging between 80 and 100 lira per kilogram.
In Iğdır, the harvest of apricot blossom honey has also commenced in Güzeldere village, Tuzluca. Iğdır Governor M. Fırat Taşolar emphasized the importance of this product, describing it as one of Turkey’s rarest honeys due to its distinct aroma and taste. Local officials noted that the province has 18,183 registered hives and expects a total honey harvest of 180 tons this year. Production in the region begins with apricot blossoms and continues with thyme and wormwood in higher altitudes.
