Agricultural initiatives in Vietnam focus on value-added processing and quality standards

In Lạng Sơn province, Vương Thị Thương, Director of the Toàn Thương Agricultural Cooperative, is working to increase the value of local Vành Khuyên persimmons. To address the issue of seasonal price fluctuations and limited market access for fresh fruit, she has transitioned to processing fresh persimmons into wind-dried persimmons. Despite initial technical challenges regarding moisture and weather dependency, the initiative aims to extend product shelf life and create employment opportunities for local women.

In Thái Nguyên, Phú Quý Green Tea is implementing strict selection and harvesting standards to maintain product quality. Expert Tô Văn Phú outlines a classification system based on tea hill segments and specific harvesting times. The company utilizes distinct technical standards for different tea grades, such as 'Trà Đinh' (harvesting a single young bud), 'Trà Nõn Tôm' (a 1 bud to 1 young leaf ratio), and 'Trà Móc Câu' (a 1 bud to 2 young leaves ratio), to ensure specific flavor profiles and textures.
