Agricultural innovation and regenerative practices discussed in Spain

New technological and sustainable initiatives are being promoted within the Spanish agricultural sector. The ‘Demofarm Andalucía’ project, coordinated by the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, is evaluating technological solutions to improve the competitiveness of farms across seven provinces, including Almería, Jaén, and Seville. A demonstration day is scheduled for October 28 at the ‘Las Manillas’ farm in Arquillos, Jaén, focusing on advancements in hedge olive groves, such as irrigation monitoring, fertilization, and automated weather stations.

Additionally, a conference on regenerative agriculture will take place in Madrid on October 27. The event brings together public administration, researchers, and industry leaders from the agri-food, energy, and certification sectors. The discussions aim to address the transformation of production systems through practices that improve soil health, promote biodiversity, and reduce land degradation, including techniques like cover cropping and reduced tillage.
