Agricultural machinery sector faces pressure in Poland, France, and Italy

The July CEMA barometer indicates a continued downturn in the European agricultural machinery industry. The business climate index remains low at -19 points on a scale of -100 to 100, showing only a marginal 1-point increase from the previous month. This follows a sharp decline from a positive index of 2 points in January.

Poland, France, and Italy are experiencing the worst business climates in the sector, with significant pressure on the tractor, tillage, and harvesting machinery segments. In contrast, business sentiment remains stable in Scandinavia, the Alpine region, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Germany.

Among the 140 executives surveyed across nine countries, 35% anticipate a decline in turnover over the next six months. Regarding labor, 37% of respondents expect to reduce temporary staff, while 11% anticipate reductions in permanent employees.
