Agricultural machinery trends and custom engineering in Poland
The Polish agricultural sector is seeing a shift in machinery requirements and technical innovation. Modern auxiliary tractors in large farms are increasing in power, moving from the traditional 70–90 HP range to models offering 130–160 HP. According to Włodzimierz Spryszyński of Agroma Poznań, these machines are becoming more versatile, handling tasks like spraying, fertilizing, and baling that were previously reserved for primary tractors. Farmers are increasingly prioritizing hydraulics, ISOBUS compatibility, and cabin comfort over raw horsepower alone.
Historical and custom engineering also highlight the evolution of tractor technology. The Ursus C-3110, an export model introduced around 1972, utilized a 6-cylinder Perkins engine to provide approximately 110 HP for international markets. In a contemporary DIY context, mechanic Mateusz Bikowski has constructed a functional custom tractor, referred to as SAM. Built with a budget of 9,000 PLN, the machine utilizes a Volkswagen Golf 1.9 diesel engine and an axle from a Stara truck, successfully performing field tasks such as plowing.
