Agricultural management strategies focus on corn, cotton, and bean yields in Brazil

Agricultural research and management strategies in Brazil are focusing on optimizing yields for corn, cotton, and bean crops through better timing and soil analysis.

In Campo Novo do Parecis, Ctecno Parecis—a collaboration between Aprosoja MT and Iagro—evaluated 40 corn hybrids for the 2025/2026 season. Research indicates that medium-textured soils significantly outperform sandy soils in productivity. Additionally, corn planted later in February showed higher yields than those planted earlier due to specific regional rainfall patterns.

For cotton production, managing uneven maturation is a critical challenge. Factors such as soil fertility, irrigation uniformity, and pest attacks can cause plants within the same field to develop at different rates. Producers are advised to conduct field diagnostics to determine whether to apply defoliants or begin mechanized harvesting to avoid fiber quality loss.

Bean cultivation requires careful selection of planting windows to mitigate climate risks. Because beans are sensitive to extreme temperatures and water fluctuations, farmers must align planting with historical rainfall, soil conditions, and the Agricultural Climate Risk Zoning (Zarc) to ensure adequate moisture during flowering and grain filling.
