Vietnam trade turnover exceeds 1 trillion USD for first time
Vietnam has reached a historic economic milestone, with its total import and export turnover estimated at 1.0106 trillion USD for the first ten months of 2026. This represents a 32.3% increase compared to the same period last year, marking the first time the nation has surpassed the 1 trillion USD threshold.
Growth was primarily driven by the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) sector, which accounted for approximately 778 billion USD in turnover, a 37% year-on-year increase. Domestic enterprises contributed roughly 223 billion USD, up 16%. Processing industries remained the core driver, representing 87.4% of total export turnover.
Key export markets included China, the United States, the EU, South Korea, and ASEAN. Major commodity groups driving this volume included computers, electronic products, telecommunications equipment, and machinery. In October 2026 alone, trade turnover reached an estimated 122.2 billion USD, a 47.6% increase from the previous year.
