Agricultural ministries discuss fisheries development and food security

A delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries met with Egypt’s Lake Protection and Development Agency to discuss technical cooperation and the development of the fisheries sector. The discussions focused on exchanging expertise in fishery management, aquaculture, and production efficiency. Key topics included institutional capacity building, research collaboration, and public-private partnerships to improve logistics and marketing at fishing ports.

Separately, Minister of Agriculture Rizq Slimieh met with representatives from Catholic Relief Services (CRS) to discuss enhancing food security and supporting farmers. The meeting addressed the need for targeted interventions to provide agricultural supplies and support priority crops. Discussions also covered the “Basateen” project and ways to foster local production and economic resilience for farming communities.
