Agricultural ministries launch seed distribution programs to secure food supplies
Paraguay’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) has launched the 'Plan Cultivar Tomate Periodo Estival 2026/2027' to stabilize the national tomato supply during the summer season. The initiative will provide 1,800 seed envelopes, valued at approximately US$ 460,800, to 1,800 producers. The distribution includes the Abbiadori and Caniati varieties to help adjust market supply following a 14.1% increase in tomato prices reported in September.
In Honduras, the Secretariat of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG) is investing L 2.5 million to strengthen the production of certified bean seeds. The program supports 314 seed multipliers across five departments: Olancho, Santa Bárbara, Comayagua, El Paraíso, and Lempira. Beneficiaries will receive agricultural kits containing fertilizers, insecticides, and fungicides to reduce production costs and recover capacity lost to previous drought conditions.
