Agricultural plane crashes into Brazilian nursery
An agricultural aircraft crashed into the Cora Coralina nursery in Campo Verde, Mato Grosso, on October 23. At the time of the impact, approximately 180 children between the ages of one and five were inside the building.
Security footage captured the moment the plane struck an empty room within the facility. While the impact was severe enough that the engine passed through a wall, no children or staff members were injured due to an organized evacuation. Local officials noted that children in adjacent rooms were only a meter away from the impact site when the crash occurred.
The 28-year-old pilot was recovered from the wreckage with head and chest injuries. He was transported to a clinic in Rondonópolis and is reported to be in stable condition. Although no pesticides were on board at the time, fuel was leaking from the aircraft following the crash.
