Agricultural production in Santa Catarina shows regional strengths

The state of Santa Catarina, Brazil, continues to demonstrate significant agricultural diversity and economic strength across different regions. In the north, the Jaraguá do Sul region remains a vital hub, with Massaranduba serving as a major producer of irrigated rice. For the 2025/2026 harvest, Massaranduba produced approximately 49.9 thousand tons of rice, ranking seventh in the state. Additionally, Corupá has established itself as a national reference in banana cultivation.

In the southern part of the state, São Ludgero has emerged as the ‘Egg Capital of Santa Catarina.’ According to the Facisc Agro Map, the municipality is the state's leading producer of both chicken and quail eggs. In 2024, São Ludgero accounted for roughly 17% of the state's chicken egg production, generating R$ 305.8 million in revenue. The city also leads in quail egg production, contributing 21.84% of the state's total output.

Despite these successes, producers face challenges. In the northern regions, the El Niño phenomenon poses risks, with forecasts suggesting above-average rainfall and potential storms that could impact sensitive crops.
