Agricultural production trends in Vietnam

In Vietnam, farmers are utilizing closed dike systems to maintain vegetable production during the flood season. This method allows for the cultivation of crops such as cucumbers, gourds, and taro, providing a stable supply when other regions in the Mekong Delta allow floodwaters into their fields. Farmers report that income from these three-month vegetable crops can reach nearly 10 million VND per 1,000 m², significantly higher than rice farming, though subject to weather and market fluctuations.

Additionally, in Nghe An province, the processing of eels has become a significant economic driver. Local residents have transitioned from wild harvesting to establishing processing workshops and eel farms. By offering processed products like cleaned, marinated, and frozen eel, local businesses are meeting high demand from restaurants nationwide, generating substantial annual revenue and providing local employment.
