Agricultural Sector Faces Technology Adoption and Profitability Hurdles

The UK Agri‑Tech Centre warns that many agritech innovations fail to move from trial to commercial farms because growers need proven, reliable solutions that deliver clear returns. The Centre is running real‑world tests on more than 40 UK farms, covering beef, dairy, controlled‑environment crops, aquaculture and arable systems, to build farmer confidence.

In Brazil, analysts note that despite decades of productivity gains from better seeds, machinery and digital tools, farm profit margins are tightening. Rising costs for seeds, fertilizers, crop protection, equipment, labour and financing—driven by global commodity prices, energy prices and geopolitical volatility—are eroding earnings, making cost control and disciplined investment essential for profitability.
