Agricultural sectors in Hungary and Slovakia adapt to climate and regulatory shifts

Agricultural sectors in Hungary and Slovakia are facing increasing pressure to adapt to extreme weather patterns and shifting regulatory environments. In Hungary, experts at a forum in Bábolna highlighted that the 2022 drought served as a critical warning, necessitating systemic changes in water retention, technology, and food supply chains. Zoltán Illés of Agrotec Magyarország Kft. noted that farmers are already adjusting their methods, such as reducing the use of traditional plows to better manage soil conditions.

In Slovakia, the Felvidék Village Manager Network (Felvidéki Falugazdász Hálózat) has completed its first year under the coordination of the Association of Hungarian Entrepreneurs in Slovakia. The network aims to support local farmers by providing professional guidance on complex subsidies, legal changes, and market challenges. The organization has established new communication channels and professional resources in both Hungarian and Slovak to strengthen the competitiveness and security of regional producers.
