Agricultural sectors in Panama and Colombia pursue sustainability and export growth

Panama and Indonesia have engaged in an exchange of experiences regarding sustainable rice production and technology. The Indonesian Ambassador to Panama, Hendra Halim, visited the La Montuna Agro-industrial Center in Herrera province. The visit included field inspections in Santa María to observe local cultivation practices and discussions on Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Technical presentations by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) highlighted the use of precision agriculture and satellite monitoring to promote sustainable production.

In Colombia, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is working to accelerate beef export procedures. Minister Indalecio Dangond Baquero met with Minerva Foods CEO Daniel Mazzocco to discuss expanding Colombian meat access to international markets, specifically the United States and Israel. The government is coordinating with the ICA, Invima, and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to finalize phytosanitary protocols and initiate formal admissibility processes with the U.S. Embassy.
