Agricultural sectors in Colombia, Spain, and Argentina implement new policies

In Colombia, the Ministry of Agriculture has announced measures to strengthen the poultry sector, focusing on competitiveness and export capacity. Minister Indalecio Dangond proposed improving financing conditions through long-term credits, grace periods, and lower interest rates. Additionally, the government aims to establish a National Sanitary Protection Network and a commercial diplomacy agenda to open international markets for Colombian chicken and eggs.

In Spain, the Generalitat Valenciana is launching an 8-million-euro aid program to help 200 new and young farmers enter the agricultural sector. This initiative addresses generational renewal and rising production costs. Furthermore, the regional government has extended the deadline for subsidies aimed at modernizing agricultural holdings, with a total fund of 50 million euros available to cover 40% to 75% of investment costs.

In Argentina, the government of Buenos Aires has launched the 2026 horticultural census. This is the first such census in 20 years, aimed at providing updated data on fruit and vegetable production to ensure food security and internal supply. The census will cover over 100 municipalities and track changes in production methods, such as greenhouse cultivation and agroecology.
