Agricultural stakeholders in Austria and Germany demand stability and support

Agricultural stakeholders in Austria and Germany are focusing on professional development and economic stability. In Upper Austria, over 350 female farmers gathered at the Landwirtschaftskammer OÖ in Linz for an information and networking day. The event emphasized the importance of continuous education in legal advice, social insurance, and modern technology to ensure the future viability of agricultural businesses and rural communities.

In Germany, approximately 500 farmers and representatives of agricultural organizations held a demonstration in Würzburg during the Agricultural Ministers' Conference (AMK). Led by the Bavarian Farmers' Association (BBV), the protesters demanded reductions in costs and bureaucracy to ensure economic viability. Key demands include relief on diesel costs, energy cost assistance, and a €500 million federal subsidy for agricultural accident insurance. The BBV also called for significant EU agricultural funding of at least €500 billion for the 2028–2034 Common Agricultural Policy (GAP) period to secure European food security and prosperity.
